Featured Pets: Chanel's Story and Jude's Story
Chanel's Story
Chanel was the fifth of 46 wire-haired fox terriers that were rescued on Animal Precinct.
Assumed to be about 14 years old, partially blind, and with his back legs in spastic paralysis beneath him, Chanel's chances of finding a home were slight without some means of providing him mobility.
An ASPCA volunteer, Amy Roth, contacted us about building a cart for Chanel.
We knew that he would use it because he was already using a hand-me-down cart that did not fit him properly.
Leslie and Amanda, our master craftsperson, drove down to New York to measure Chanel, Foxy and Willow, all dogs who needed carts to help them get around.
We hoped that by designing a custom saddle for Chanel's contorted legs, we could ease them down enough into the saddle so that he would no longer defecate on himself.
After a short walk sniffing puddles,
and flowers, with Amanda
Chanel's legs relaxed deeply into the saddle.
Chanel was adopted a few months later by a family in Virginia.
Here at Eddie's Wheels, we felt honored to be chosen to help Chanel's rehabilitation after such a difficult life.
